The “PERFECT” Racquet!
Choosing the “right” tennis racquet can be a difficult proposition. The old adage… “Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder” is definitely in play when choosing something as unique and individual as a tennis racquet. Our goal at Tennis Traders is to assist you in your quest for that “PERFECT” racquet.

Powerful Racquets (Oversize)
Most companies offer a variety of racquets that vary greatly based on their power, swing weight, head size, length, and other characteristics. A good place to start when searching for a new racquet would be to determine how much power you can reasonably control. Power is one of the most desired characteristics for most players. Remember stiff or powerful racquets generally offer a larger “Sweet Spot” and better torsional stability, on “off center” shots than more flexible frames.

Overview:
Overwhelmingly players with short… compact strokes tend to choose more powerful racquets.

Control Racquets (Midsize and Midplus)
Accomplished players that use large “sweeping” strokes generally prefer more flexible (less powerful) frames. Flexible frames translate into greater control by virtue of their diminished power.

Overview:
Players that produce power by virtue of their stroke production (large/fast strokes) almost always choose flexible control racquets.

A Few Misconceptions:
Contrary to popular belief, POWER racquets actually have better directional control, than so-called flexible control racquets (i.e. crosscourt or down the line shots). Flexible frames change the angle at which the ball leaves the racquet, much more dramatically than powerful (stiffer) tennis racquets. Flexible racquets do however tend to have greater feel and depth control, by virtue of their flexibility.

Summarily, a less powerful racquet will produce greater feel and depth control, whereas a more powerful (stiffer) racquet will produce a larger “Sweet Spot” and better directional control.

The Decision:
It is important to carefully evaluate the many features associated with today’s tennis racquets. Tennis Racquets come in various lengths, head sizes, and materials. Hopefully the following specs & info from today’s top Manufacturers will help you find that “PERFECT” frame…
