String Hints:
Tennis Strings are available in different thicknesses
(gauges), lengths, and materials. The choice of string has a
dramatic impact on the playability of the tennis racquet. Strings
are typically available in a 15, 16, and 17 gauge. The higher
the number, the more playable and conversely less durable. Typically
a more expensive tennis string will provide more "feel"
to the player, meaning they will have more touch on their strokes.
For those who break strings consistently, we recommend a 15
gauge, or kevlar string, which is designed to last longer than
the normal thickness. For those who don't break strings nearly
as often, a natural gut or mulitfiliment is recommended.
